Skillpoint Alliance is looking for a social media-savvy creative thinker to bring our marketing and communications efforts to the next level. The goal of the Media & Communications Intern is to increase public awareness of Skillpoint Alliance and its programs and help us recruit quality students into our training programs. The term of this part-time role is 12 weeks, with the possibility of extending if funding allows.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creating content three times per week for all Skillpoint Alliance social media channels, under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, which are Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, as well as our email newsletter
  • Building our digital platform by making connections via social media with partner orgs and employers
  • Implementing and managing digital communications schedule
  • Exploring and keeping up-to-date with current social media trends in order to create content that reaches a wide variety of audiences
  • Documenting student success through multiple forms of media, such as taking photos at graduations and interviewing students, graduates, and employers.
  • In-person and virtual recruitment, time permitting
  • Assisting Partnerships Manager with the following on an as-need basis:
    • Maintaining information on Skillpoint's website
    • Designing flyers, posters and other marketing tools
    • Assisting staff in preparing for media outreach opportunities by researching data and developing talking points
    • Interviewing and writing student success stories
    • Producing and editing videos
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active user of multiple social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube and more
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Graphic design and website design experience a plus
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Curiosity and willingness to brainstorm and ask questions if dealing with ambiguity
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
  • Comfort/experience using a variety of software tools for day-to-day operations, such as Google Suite (email and calendar), Wordpress (website), Mailchimp (newsletter), Canva (graphic design) and video editing tools
Skills Required:
  • Ability to provide solutions to a variety of communication problems of basic scope.
  • Knowledge of Google Ads and Analytics is a plus.
  • Good technical writing skills and PC proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to express problems, issues, and opportunities to peers and leader.
  • Good communication and presentation skills are desirable. The ability to work closely in a team including other international locations.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
