Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic SciencesThe Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences is now recruiting a Professional Researcher. Responsible for achieving broadly stated goals through subordinate team members as defined below:Manages modeling research and development professional and supervisory staff at research / technology group level to plan, design, develop, modify, debug, deploy and evaluate PKPD models ), data science or computational science or CI software and technologies or combination thereof. Supports development and presentation of research project proposals. May represent the organization at national and international meetings, conferences and committees. Responsible for the selection, development and evaluation of all staff personnel within the research / technical group to ensure the efficient operation of the research and technology function. Recommends salary actions, terminations, and performance ratings. Supervises research and development project plans with interested collaborators, stakeholders and users as applicable. Assists in the development of and implements research and development practices, community standards and department policies and procedures. Manages the activities of professional and supervisory staff within research / technical group, with responsibility for meeting project goals, objectives, timelines and budgets. Participates in new research agendas or topics based on HPC / Data CI appropriate in a time context, based on direction from and interest of funding agencies and the research / user community. Responsible for achieving broadly stated goals through subordinate team members as defined below: Oversees development and implementation of research methods and systems in support of new and ongoing activity in the areas of computational modeling and data analysis/analytics software / tools / algorithms with broad applicability.Required Qualifications:A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or a closely related field).Thorough knowledge of subject area for strategic planning, research and technology assessment and direction. Demonstrates values of excellence, innovation and integrity Administers policies that directly affect subordinate employees and their assignments. Minimum 5 year of experience as a lead/supervisor/manager. Proven ability to lead a technical staff of HPC / Data / CI and / or scientific personnel, including projects performed by multiple developers. Broad knowledge of research and development methods, HPC hardware and software power and performance analysis and research, design, modification, implementation and deployment of HPC or data science or CI applications and tools. Proven ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization and to external research and education audiences. –Proven experience working in a complex computing / data / CI environment encompassing all or some of the following: HPC, data science infrastructure and tools / software, and diverse domain science application base.Preferred Qualifications:PharmDMinimum 6 years of experience managing in a research organization or related experience Minimum 2 years of experience managing in a research organization. Proven ability to initiate research proposals and acquire funding. Experience in the management of ongoing HPC / Data / CI technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of emerging hardware and software technologies. Proven critical thinking, persuasion/negotiation, conflict resolution, mentoring and staff development, supervision, problem solving, human resources policies and procedures relating to management responsibilities.
