The ideal candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the non-profit sector. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s mission through sound financial practices.Responsibilities:Financial Management:Oversee all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.Compliance and Audit:Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.Internal Controls:Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.Implement and oversee financial controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.Team Leadership:Manage and mentor the accounting team.Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.Strategic Planning:Support the CFO in engaging the board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.Assist in the development and implementation of strategic business plans and initiatives.Qualifications:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Experience in the non-profit sector preferred.Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
