Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists the Director of Nursing (DON) for the Nursing Home. As the ADON, she/he is the second in command of the nursing department. He/she will work closely with the DON to improve the quality of patient care and services provided by the team. In absence of the DON, he/she will oversee the entire team ensuring quality customer service and compliance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, as well as the policies and procedures set by your employer.

  • Infection Control processes and enforcement with nursing and ancillary staff.
  • Staff Education, and in servicing.
  • Must be accessible after hours according to the facility on call rotation and available for certain emergencies.
  • Restorative Program Nurse with care planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the activities that take place in the Nursing Home Restorative Program.
  • Analyze and implement recommendations for audits.
  • Evaluate the overall performance of the entire nursing staff and to make recommendations for correction and improvement.
  • Ensure the satisfaction of the residents.
  • Address the complaints made by the residents.
  • Ensure staff are performing their respective duties in the right manner and at the right time.
  • Offer training to the working staff and hold educative programs from time to time to ensure that all the staff stay updated.
  • Call regular staff meetings to discuss about the current issues, recommendations and updates.
  • Make sure that everything is done in accordance with the local, federal and state standards.
  • Plan for the optimal utilization of resources.
  • Analyze the staff and resident data and make interventions if required.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing (LPN required. RN preferred).
  • 5 years management experience required.
  • NM LPN or RN License.
  • BLS certification or obtain per policy upon hire; maintain BLS certification.
  • Dementia Certified preferred.
