GENERAL SUMMARY

Receives emergency and non-emergency requests for response via radio, telephones and computer aided dispatch systems. Determines priorities, dispatches law enforcement and other emergency units and maintains close contact with field units to monitor response progress and needed support requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Receives emergency (E911) and non-emergency calls from the public, dispatchers, and law enforcement agencies via telephone, radio systems and computer aided dispatch requiring law enforcement, emergency medical service (EMS), or fire department attention and relays to officers or command personnel, as appropriate.
  • Operates a multi-frequency radio and computer-aided dispatch system, accesses teletypes, operates playback on radios, operates TDD/TTY (Teletypewriting Device for the Deaf/Teletypewriter) and other related communication equipment located throughout the center.
  • Navigates the OMNIXX system.
  • Uses system to run criminal histories for CID, courts, officers and warrants.
  • Enters wanted persons, Felony and Misdemeanor.
  • Maintains warrants and clears warrants.
  • Sends teletypes to other agencies confirming warrants, missing persons, stolen guns and stolen vehicles for Johnson County and additional agencies.
  • Determines priorities of calls and dispatches required units and/or agencies. Receives radio calls from field units.
  • Performs data entry, modification, cancel and clear from the state system TLETS (Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System).
  • Uses various computer systems, databases and mapping applications for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Runs and distrubutes paperwork for jail, investigators, courts, officers and warrants.
  • Validates and reenters (purged) records that have been entered through state system TLETS.
  • Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, and wear personal protective gear if required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

6 months to 1 year of advanced study or training beyond high school equivalency, Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions listed above can be substituted.

TCOLE telecommunication license Preferred
