Field Support Electrical Engineer,

Field Support Electrical Engineer will work directly with Technical Support product manager, engineering, manufacturing, and service groups within Mi-Jack Global Product Support. Your primary focus will be to support high level troubleshooting / problem solving, interfacing with all field services and end-users for ensuring ultimate customer satisfaction. You will provide technical full-service support for both software and hardware for field troubleshooting for high level issues that arise on electric or hybrid equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Troubleshoot Field Issues on Electric or Hybrid Equipment working with product support group and service technicians.
• Create high level Troubleshooting Guides, Techniques / SOPs and other Support Documentation for all Electric and Hybrid Equipment.
• Direct communications with engineering for compliance and assistance for high level issues requiring assistance.
• Attend and participate in engineering design reviews including R&D projects and/or any related quoted jobs for both internal and external customers.
• Participate in code reviews, identify and address technical debt, and understand coding standards and best practices.
• Gather, track, and analyze process control data to drive product improvement.
• Provide technical direction and recommendation based on industry best practices and your experience.
• Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools
• Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in products. Special projects or work as assigned.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various environments carrying test equipment onto and into machines. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds. Ingress / egress of off-road machine cabs is required. Climbing ladders and cat-walks of cranes is required.

Education & Experience:

Required:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Mechatronics
  • 6-10 years of experience.
  • Strong user with conceptual understanding of associated systems
  • Experience working directly with modern technologies based on the Microsoft platform
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and optimizing motion control systems for industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of computer languages commonly used motion control systems utilizing C/C++, Python, CoDeSys, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Familiarity with control theory principles, such as PID control, state-space control, and adaptive control, and their application in motion control systems.
  • Experience working with various motion control hardware components, such as servo drives, motors, encoders, and actuators.
  • Understanding of communication protocols commonly used in motion control systems, such as EtherCAT, CAN bus, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and motion control system block diagrams.
  • Experience working with the following:
    • Web API and RESTful services
    • Typescript and Javascript
    • CANBUS
    • EtherCAT
    • CoDeSys
  • HTML and CSS/SASS
Desired
  • Experience with modern web frameworks, like ReactJS
  • Experience with UI tools, such as npm and gulp
  • Working knowledge of websockets and real-time communication
