Principal DB2 DBA - AWS

The Role

Fidelity is seeking a seasoned database administrator/ engineer primarily with expertise in DB2 on Linux platform to join our team. In this role you will:

  • Support DB2 on Linux and utilize your strong understanding of RDBMS and NOSQL database concepts to support our critical Fraud data platform.
  • Work closely with Application team to support their modernization efforts by recommending appropriate data solutions.
  • Support other platforms to include any flavor of PostgreSQL, NewSQL databases such as YugaByte, in-memory database solutions such as Redis/AeroSpike and NoSQL and databases such as Mongo, Cassandra.
  • Play a critical role in building the next generation fraud data platform by bringing in your deep database expertise and integrating those skills with the rest of the team.

 The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive working experience supporting enterprise database platforms such as DB2 LUW, PostgreSQL, MongDB, YugaByte, Aerospike etc.
  • Solid understanding of query performance and optimization techniques for various database platforms (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience working on Linux operations system and OS tuning knowledge around database workloads.
  • Experience working with Federation Services / Federated systems.
  • Moderate to advanced shell, Perl or Python scripting skills to automate or build utilities interacting with databases.
  • Understanding and work experience with data replication tools such as MQ Replication, IBM CDC or Attunity is required.
  • Sound knowledge of backup, recovery and bulk load utilities to assist developers with batch process design.
  • Working experience with some flavor of PostgreSQL engine.
  • Expertise in real time performance monitoring tools such as db2top, event monitors, WLM, Linux top, vmstat, iostat and netstat etc.
  • Automation skills around Terraform, Ansible to ease traditional database activities such as configuration management and monitoring.
  • Expertise supporting both on-prem and cloud database platforms (preferably AWS).
  • Good understanding of Agile sprints and Service-Now tool for change, incident management.
  • Analytical skills to troubleshoot complex database problems and communication skills to keep stakeholders appraised.
  • Proactive capacity planning, not just storage but from CPU, memory standpoint.
  • Experience with on-call protocols such as Incident triaging, escalation etc.

Our Center of Excellent is responsible for Enterprise Snowflake Operations, Database Operations & Platform Engineering, Data Masking DevSecOps & Data Ingestion Platform, Enterprise Datalake Operations, and Enterprise Data Tool Operations. We support a wide range of latest and greatest tools and technologies including Snowflake, Yugabyte, Aerospike, Oracle, DB2, Mongo, Postgres, SQL Server, NiFi, Collibra, Alation, Middleware, AWS, Azure etc.
