You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Your responsibilities in this role
- Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
- Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Requirements
- Excellent verbal, written, and social skills
- Vow to meet business deadlines
- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
- CPA experience
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Detailed and have the ability work independently
- Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
