The Navy Project Lead Engineer will lead, coordinate, and communicate across a diverse team, ensuring the successful design, development, certification, and delivery of electronics systems for Virginia and Columbia Class pre-commissioned payload systems. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to navigate complex program management tasks within a multi-faceted team environment.
Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.
As a part of this dynamic team with work locations in Washington, DC, New London, CT, Groton, CT and Newport, RI, you will be expected to bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

In this role, you will:
- Ensure timely completion of all program assignments, maintaining alignment with strategic goals and the command's mission.
- Serve as the primary Systems Integration and Test lead, overseeing risk assessment, production, and quality assurance processes.
- Develop and implement methods to monitor and measure program risks, production outputs, and quality assurance.
- Resolve conflicts in system specifications, design, development, delivery, parts, and procedures.
- Ensure approaches to agency-wide policies are designed to mitigate identified risks and reduce vulnerabilities in ongoing operations.
- Develop and facilitate local training, policy plans, and approaches to risk management.
- Review and ensure compliance of specialized program documentation, maintaining accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Maintain advanced communication skills, both orally and in writing, interacting at all levels of the Submarine manufacturing enterprise.
- Liaise with assessable unit managers and representatives across administrative, engineering, technical, and certification fields.
- Track and report key metrics and trends, ensuring issues are addressed through corrective action plans.
- Oversee testing and certification processes for the payload systems, ensuring all systems meet required specifications and standards.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An active DoD Secret security clearance
- US Citizenship
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree (Physics, Chem, etc.).
- A High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree (Physics, Chem, etc.).
- 8 years of experience (Experience in Navy acquisitions and submarine electronic systems, with a proven track record in program management and leadership roles highly preferred).
- Knowledge of the MS Office Suite to include, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlines.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed.
Additional desired experience and skills::
- Master's Degree
- Top Secret Clearance
- Experience with Submarine Combat Control Systems, Submarine Payload System Electronics, Submarine Weapons Launch Console/Common Weapon Launcher (CWL)/Tube Control Panel (TCP) systems is desired
- Experience in the Navy, specifically within Team Submarine or on-board submarines
