The Opportunity
WSP is growing the Bus Transit team within the Transportation & Infrastructure sector and has an opportunity for a dynamic and visionary leader to grow the team through collaboration, driving business development through informed market intelligence, capitalizing on opportunities through strategic pre-positioning, and overseeing the successful execution of Bus Transit projects. As the new Vice President in the Transportation Systems team, you will be responsible for establishing and growing the Bus Transit Group, setting strategic direction and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Your Impact
- Lead and Innovate: Grow the Bus Transit Group by leveraging existing skills, researching market intelligence setting strategic direction and fostering a collaborative, innovative team environment.
- Drive Business Development: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and clients, and drive the growth of the group.
- Present at conferences and participate in workshops to strengthen existing client relationships and establish new relationships; obtain an understanding of emerging state-of-the-art technologies and market drivers.
- Oversee Bus Major Pursuits and Projects: Take charge of the successful bid and execution of complex, multidisciplinary proposals and projects, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality, sustainability, and client satisfaction, including team formulation, Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposals, and Presentations
- Build and Mentor a High-Performing Team: Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Work with other WSP leaders to develop and implement strategies to achieve business objectives, leverage our Rail & Transit leadership position in the market and deliver comprehensive and sustainable transportation solutions.
- Collaborate across Regions, sectors and subsectors by working closely with engineers, specialists, scientists, planners, and other professionals from various disciplines to deliver integrated and innovative transportation solutions.
What you'll bring to WSP
- 15+ years' experience in engineering field and 10+ years in a senior leadership role in the bus transit sector.
- Deep Bus Transit client knowledge and proven client relationships within Canada.
- Track record of managing and growing a technical/engineering staff and promoting a Transit Center of Excellence
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to make impactful decisions and inspiring teams to achieve project goals
- Proven experience in leading and managing Bus Transit projects across Canada.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and independent judgment.
- In-depth knowledge of bus transit systems.
- Demonstrated Increasing market share in the Transit sector, including the strategic growth areas of zero emission, bus rapid transit, bus fleets and facilities
- Strategic planning and project management expertise.
- Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation or certification
- Demonstrated Increasing market share in the Transit/Rail sector, including the strategic growth areas of zero emission, bus rapid transit, bus fleets and facilities
- Proven leader in developing and nurturing relationships with key clients
- A recognized leader in professional organizations
