Job Description: Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Structural Steel Fitter for our client in NE Portland. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining steel structures used in construction projects such as buildings, bridges, and other large infrastructure. The fitter will work with blueprints, welders, fabricators, and engineers to ensure that structural components are safely and accurately installed according to the project’s specifications.

Fitter Shift: M-F Day and Swing
Fitter Pay: $27-$32 â€" DOE
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and plans to determine job specifications.
Fit, align, and secure structural steel components such as beams, columns, braces, and frames.
Measure, cut, and drill steel parts to fit the construction requirements.
Use hand and power tools for fabricating and modifying structural components.
Work with welders to ensure steel components are welded or bolted correctly.
Inspect fabricated steel structures to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
Work at heights and operate lifting equipment like cranes and hoists to position steel components.
Maintain tools, equipment, and ensure workplace safety by following established procedures.
Weld and fabricate as needed.
Follow strict safety guidelines and ensure compliance with local and industry regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a Structural Steel Fitter or similar role.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Strong understanding of steel fitting techniques and tools.
Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in construction.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in demanding conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in welding or metal fabrication.
Experience operating cranes, hoists, and other heavy machinery.
Basic knowledge of welding techniques and steel fabrication processes.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
