The Corporate Governance team is situated within the Strategic Initiatives organization. Corporate Governance performs a range of oversight and support functions designed to promote control effectiveness, reduce operational risk, and optimize audit and exam outcomes.The SVP, Corporate Governance coordinates and monitors audit, governance, enterprise risk, and related activities within AmeriHome operating units. What we are looking for:
Audit and Exam Coordination (50%):
- Oversee audit and exam coordination for investor and other third-party exams, internal audits, SOX testing, and other audits of AmeriHome's operations
- Ensure appropriate managers are engaged with the audit/exam
- Manage evidence requests and review materials for completeness and appropriateness
- As needed, assist in the development of remediation plans and monitor control remediation
Enterprise Risk Initiatives (30%):
- Support the Business Continuity Management (BCM) lifecycle with AmeriHome managers;
- Monitor and facilitate compliance with Western Alliance Bank (WAB) risk policies, including the Model Risk Management and Critical Spreadsheet policies
- Coordinate with Business Controls Testing (BCT) to ensure the Risk and Control Inventories (RCIs) are accurate, up to date, and compliant with WAB standards
- Facilitate risk and control assessments as needed
- Identify control gaps and work with management to develop or remediate controls
- Support selected third-party risk management activities
- Manage or coordinate special projects as directed by the MD Strategic Projects
Governance (20%):
- Coordinate committee approvals; maintain and update charters and related documents
- Oversee annual policy updates; monitor procedures status and oversee content quality and compliance
- Develop management reporting for the Governance team
- Assist in the training and development of junior team members
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree; advanced degree or relevant certification a plus
- Minimum 8+ years working in the financial services industry or a highly regulated industry requiring significant risk and compliance controls
- At least five (5) years audit experience, including supervision or management of audits and development of audit programs; additional experience in governance or risk oversight a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and produce quality presentations for management and committees
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects and prioritizing within a fast-paced environment
- Ability to assess issues, propose viable solutions, and drive implementation
- Experience with financial services regulatory requirements
- Ability to request and/or collect relevant information, identify potential exposures/gaps, summarize conclusions, construct recommendations, present recommendations, collaborate on the design/testing/implementation of controls, and evaluate control results.
- Leadership ability and integrity
- Strong relationship management skills, ability to influence outcomes, and communicate strategic vision
