The Privacy Preserving Machine Learning team works with teams all across the company to provide tools and support for state-of-the-art privacy-preserving measurement and machine learning. We are looking for an outstanding engineering manager to join the Privacy Preserving Machine Learning team.DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced manager and technical lead to join our team in building privacy-preserving technologies for measurement and machine learning.
In this role you will:
- Manage and grow a team that designs, develops, and deploys state-of-the-art privacy-preserving technologies for measurement and machine learning that meet Apple’s industry-leading privacy bar.
- Communicate system design tradeoffs, privacy risks, and potential mitigations to senior leadership to drive decisions.
- Develop and grow a team of senior engineering staff and managers.
- Guide the development of data collection systems that enable the training and evaluation of generative AI systems while preserving privacy.
Successful candidates will need to have a strong track record of technical leadership and extensive experience managing engineering teams, including managing and developing new managers. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build consensus are crucial to success in this role. You will be working across multiple teams and organizations on a regular basis, so strong interpersonal and time management skills are necessary.Minimum QualificationsExperience managing managers and managing through organizational change and growth.Experience leading strategic technical projects with multiple stakeholders and directing work of other engineers or as a technical leadStrong collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to solve complex problems independentlyPreferred QualificationsPassion for customer privacyExperience with differential privacy or private federated learningReal-world experience implementing privacy/trust/security measures which have shipped in a consumer product and/or serviceParticipation in public standards forums or academic publications in privacy and machine learning.BS in Computer Science, EE or equivalent experiencePay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
