Job OverviewZordi, an innovative AgTech company revolutionizing Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), is searching for an experienced Grower to lead plant care at our expanding strawberry greenhouse farm in Vineland, NJ. As we scale up, we need a knowledgeable and proactive plant care specialist to manage crop health, and optimize yields. They will work within the Production Department to oversee crop health, environmental control, and pest management while closely collaborating with the Operations Manager to achieve production goals. Primary Focus: Ensuring plant health and productivity through hands-on plant care, precision in environmental management, and effective team training. Expected hours40-50 hours per weekMonday to Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM (30-minute lunch)Saturday or Sunday, half to full day shiftHoliday shifts Duties & ResponsibilitiesCrop Management: Oversee all aspects of crop care, from planting to harvest, to ensure optimal yield and plant health.Scouting & Crop Registration: Conduct regular plant health inspections, document growth stages, and track potential issues. Maintain digital records for transparent tracking and data-driven decision-making.Nutrient & Chemical Management: Prepare and apply fertilizers, nutrients, and pest control substances, adhering to best practices and safety protocols.Environmental Controls: Monitor and adjust greenhouse climate settings (temperature, humidity, and light) to create ideal growing conditions for hydroponic strawberries.Yield Forecasting: Monitor and project yield, collaborating with the Operations Manager to ensure alignment with production goals.Staff Training: Train and mentor team members on crop care techniques, best practices, and technology use.Food Safety: Enforce food safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.Incorporate Zordi proprietary technology. Role Competencies:Knowledgeable and experienced in hydroponic strawberry production and associated crop care techniques.Able to monitor and adjust environmental conditions to promote optimal plant health and production.Skilled at identifying nutritional deficiencies, diseases, and pest issues and implementing timely solutions, including an ongoing Integrated Pest Management program.Capable of managing digital records and working with online tools.Capable of identifying and troubleshooting various equipment failures across irrigation, HVAC, and greenhouse systems.Ability to work in varied conditions, lift 50 lbs, and perform repetitive physical tasksStrongly preferred: Proficient in English and Spanish. RequirementsExperience working with fruiting crops in greenhouses.Bachelor’s Degree in horticulture, agriculture or related fields.3-5 years minimum work experience managing people in greenhouses.Holds a Private Pesticide Applicator License for NJ.Demonstrated success in similar roles. Location Requirement: Reliable commuting to Vineland, NJ is required.
