Job Summary
As a Reliability Engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies to improve the reliability and performance of critical machinery, reduce downtime, and enhance overall plant productivity. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to identify potential risks, optimize maintenance practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve the performance, availability, and lifecycle of equipment and systems.
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failures and recommend proactive solutions to mitigate risks.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment failures, identify corrective actions, and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance history to identify trends, predict failures, and develop maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to develop and refine preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for equipment reliability, including mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime, improving safety, and increasing the reliability of manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for equipment reliability and safety.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the operations and maintenance teams on troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
- Train and mentor staff on best practices for equipment reliability and maintenance.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Reliability Engineer in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of reliability principles, tools, and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, RCA, RCM).
- Proficiency in maintenance and reliability software (e.g., CMMS, SAP PM Emaintenance, MVP, MPP).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and equipment, such as hydraulic presses, chemical systems, other heavy machinery, conveyors, pumps, VFD's, and rotating equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset to assess equipment performance and make informed decisions.
- Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in a heavy manufacturing setting.
- Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)).
- Experience with condition monitoring technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
- Frequently required to stand, sit, bend and kneel.
- Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle/reach tools, machines, and equipment
