As a Part-Time Cook for Homeland Center, you contribute to our culture of care and trust by ensuring our residents enjoy delicious and nourishing meals, contributing to their overall health and well-being.

  • This is a part-time position and requires flexibility with the ability to work mornings and evenings, as needed.
As a Part-Time Homeland Center Cook, you would be eligible for:

Cook Responsibilities include:

Prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals according to the menu and production sheets; serves on the tray line by plating the food; assists with serving in the main dining room; cleans cook area and equipment used during meal preparation.
  • Preparing kitchen for meal prep: including turning on equipment and completing kitchen logs.
  • Making assorted food items, including special orders, pureed, and special diet foods, as well as traditional breakfast, lunch, and dinner items.
  • Cleaning the kitchen workspace and clearing the serving area after meal service is completed for each mealtime; including turning off all equipment.
Part-Time Cook Requirements:

Experience and Education:
  • 1-3 years' experience bulk cooking in a formal setting/healthcare environment.
  • Completion of a culinary training program, preferred.
  • Basic English Language Skills, including ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Basic Mathematical Skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Basic Reasoning Skills, including ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other skills and abilities:
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete repetitive tasks.
