Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) has been proudly serving our community since 1933 and is one of the original Planned Parenthood affiliates in the nation.
We provide reproductive health care, health education and advocacy from our five health centers in Alhambra, Baldwin Park, Glendora, Highland Park, and Pasadena, in addition to our telehealth clinic. We strive to ensurethesexual and reproductive health services we provide align withtheneeds ofthecommunities we serve. Our service area extends from Glendora to Glendale and fromtheSan Gabriel mountains totheSan Bernardino freeway, home to 24 communities and a diverse population of 1.4 million people.
Today, PPPSGV sees over 60,000 patient visits per year and delivers over 15,000 opportunities for sex and relationship education in our schools and colleges.
We offer safe and legal abortions. We are committed to providing accurate, non-judgmental care and resources by helping our patients overcome financial, transportation, and other barriers to care. In addition, we work with abortion funds and practical support network to support our patients. Our abortion care has increased every year since 2018 with an average of 3,500 abortions per year. We saw close to 4,000 abortion patients in 2022 alone, approximately 59 were out-of-state patients.
The Attorney will provide legal support and guidance on various matters related to healthcare law, regulatory compliance, risk management, contract review and negotiation and strategic legal advice to support our operations.
*This position is scheduled to work 20-25 hours per week.
As an Attorney, you will help save lives while you:
- Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date on laws impacting the organization including, healthcare, patient privacy, real estate, employee matters, and security
- Advise on strategies to mitigate potential legal and business risks
- Provide legal advice to ensure PPPSGV's compliance with local, state, and federal laws and contracts
- Conduct legal review of and assist in drafting organizational policies
- Review, draft, and negotiate various agreements, including vendor contracts, health plan contracts, independent contractor agreements, leases, and partnership agreements
- Prepare legal presentations and trainings
- Support risk and quality management by proactively identifying risks to the Chief Legal Officer
- Foster collaborative relationships with PPPSGV staff
- Represent PPPSGV at key stakeholder meetings
- Comply with PPPSGV's Code of Conduct and maintain the highest level of professional and ethical standards; act in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Non-Essential Functions:

- Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law and in good standing in California
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law
- Familiarity with healthcare law strongly preferred
- Experience in contract negotiation and drafting preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills, including ability to translate legal concepts to a non-legal audience
- Work independently and provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Exercise sound judgment and provide practical advice
- Effectively manage multiple priorities at one time, often in the face of fast turn-around deadlines
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet
- Other:

$75,000 - $95,000 a year
The hiring rate for this position is: $75,000- $95,000/year + Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Matching Program, Premium CALM account, holidays, paid time off, and more!
