Broad Function:
Supervise or assist residents with personal care service, which include activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living as identified in the resident service plan and assigned by the nurse.
Performance Responsibilities:
Resident Care
- Gives report to the nurse or designated charge person at the end of their shift.
- Immediately reports any changes to the nurse or designated charge person.
- Supervise, assist residents with ADL 's (bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, continence management, etc.)
- Supervise, assist with dining service, meal assistance/adaptive equipment and snacks.
- Escort residents to meals and/or activities
- Report unusual conditions, observations, and pertinent information to the nurse.
- Adhere to resident rights, abuse reporting and confidentiality policies.
- Foster and maintain an effective working relationship between peers, professional staff, and other personnel within the community.
- Supervise, assist, or provide light housekeeping.
- Supervise, assist, or provide laundering of personal clothing.
- Supervise or assist with telephoning.
- Supervise or assist with the use of transportation.
- Supervise or assist with life enrichment activity programs.
- Promptly respond to resident emergency calls
- Comply with all documentation policies/procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate a courteous, polite, and friendly attitude with residents, families, and visitors.
- Respond to the needs of residents, families and visitors by providing immediate assistance.
- Assist in maintaining contact with residents who are not involved in activities due to illness or injury.
- Function as a leader of the resident care team, assisting co-workers as needed.
Safety
- Use proper body mechanics when bending or lifting.
- Know the community's disaster and fire safety policies and procedures, including the location and contact use of the fire alarm system.
- Follow the designated plan of action in the event of a fire or other emergency.
- Know and follow the community's infection prevention policies and procedures.
To meet the work performance expectations in a satisfactory manner, the employee must:
- Perform all duties according to policy and in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate good judgment with proper decision-making abilities.
- Comply with community attendance policies.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and/or in-service training.
- Adhere to the departmental dress code requirements related to personal grooming and attire.
- Complete ASHFORD MEMORY CARE Alzheimer's education programs and monthly in-services
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or (GED)
- Must have valid, unrestricted certification in the state of employment. (CNA/CHHIA/CAREGIVER) and maintain CEU's.
- Must demonstrate competency in the following areas:
- Vital signs
- ADL's/IADL's
- Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred (unless required by the state)
- Food handlers permit.
- Must have the strength and endurance required for standing, walling, lifting, bending and pushing.
- Works beyond normal business hours, weekends, holidays, and severe weather situations when necessary.
- Is subject to potential exposure to infectious~ waste, disease, and conditions etc., including TB, HIV, and Hepatitis B.

Two-week notice is required.
