Description

StarCare Specialty Health System seeks to hire an organized, self-starter to fill the role of Administrative Assistant for the Veteran's Service Division (VetStar).

Responsibilities:
  • Provides general clerical support including copying, faxing, answering phones, answering emails, filing, and other related support duties.
  • Completes data entry activities.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments and maintaining calendars.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and trainings.
  • Distributes mail and signs for incoming department deliveries.
  • Prepares communications and memos.
  • Creates and maintains both electronic and physical filing systems.
  • Submits work orders.
  • Works with outreach staff to coordinate service events and outreach activities.
  • Works confidentially with sensitive information and veteran records.
  • Presents a positive and professional image.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Veteran Programs Director.
Schedule: This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department. This position works on-site at StarCare's community-based services building located at 3804 I-27, Lubbock, Texas.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent, with some college preferred.
  • A veteran or member of the U.S. Armed Forces (any branch), experience as a veteran caregiver, or have direct work experience with state or federal military and veteran programs, preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft computer software is required.
  • Successful candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills and the desire to provide compassionate support to veterans.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
