The Eberly College of Science is seeking a full-time, experienced data analyst (intermediate professional). In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for institutional research that proactively supports the administrative and academic departments and units of the college. This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
The successful candidate will report to the associate dean for administration.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$56,200.00 - $81,500.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The successful candidate will report to the associate dean for administration.
Duties:
- Responsible for successfully retrieving and analyzing data from a variety of institutional data sources to provide reports and information to college leadership for planning, assessment, and performance improvements across the college.
- Collaborate with college personnel on strategic planning to include assistance with establishing key performance indicators defining largely qualitative but also quantitative metrics as part of strategic planning, based on knowledge of information and content available.
- Design, write, and analyze survey data.
- Serve as a consultant by providing units within the college with facilitation and training for data gathering, interpretation, and utilization.
- Consult with various offices in the college on assessment projects, assisting various stakeholders in understanding and using results from assessment projects and advancing the assessment of learning outcomes related to co-curricular programs and services.
- Collaborate with the college IT team to establish a secure repository for data analysis for college stakeholders.
- Work on a variety of projects and ad hoc analyses with the ability to be responsive, fluent and agile in pulling data and in discerning the extent of data required.
- Serve on college or university committees to support college initiatives.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Strong data presentation skills and excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in the information systems that house student data (LionPath, Canvas, Starfish, etc.) as well as having a working knowledge of educational structures (campuses, colleges, programs, entrance to major processes, university policies and procedures, etc.)
- Knowledge of iTwo, eSTeward, LionSpace (FIS), SIMBA and Microsoft Power BI and other Office software is desired: Skill with Qualtrics is preferred.
- Knowledge of legacy Penn State data systems (like Data Warehouse) can be helpful.
- A working knowledge of contemporary challenges in higher education and STEM disciplines is desired to include a high level of fluency in the issues for students in science and higher education.
- This position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
