Castleton Commodities International is seeking a Business Data Analystto join our Global Finance Analytics and Reporting team in our Houston office. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented, analytics-driven professional with a robust background in data reporting and visualization. As a key player in the expansion of our data platform, you will be instrumental in transforming how we consume and manage data, enhancing our business intelligence capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Perform data analysis and gather data/MI/Reporting requirements.
- Employ data mining techniques to extract information, identify correlations, and patterns.
- Visualize data using tools and techniques to create easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data through continuous monitoring and validation.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure a deep understanding of data needs and business objective.
- Address and resolve data-related inquiries and issues, maintaining a log of such activities.
- Conduct business acceptance testing and facilitate stakeholder approvals.
- Design and implement effective data visualizations using state-of-the-art tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to aid in decision-making processes.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills, working effectively with a range of business users and senior stakeholders.
- Lead workshops to capture detailed business and data requirements
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, providing critical insights for key business decisions across various functions.
- Analyze large data sets to provide actionable insights, build visualizations to demonstrate the value of data, and bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 5+ years of proven experience in data analytics, preferably within Financial Services, Commodities, or Energy Trading sectors.
- Knowledge of trade lifecycle experience is required
- Proficient in data analysis, data mapping, and problem-solving.
- Expertise in deriving insights from data and presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to executive-level stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Python and other analytical tools is highly advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write and optimize complex queries.
- Demonstrated expertise in data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
