Job Title: Delivery Driver

FLSA Status: Part Time - non-exempt
Reports to:Corps Officers

Supervises: N/A

Schedule: Part-time, 25 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $14.00/hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Delivery Driver's primary responsibility is to pick up donations and deliver them to The Salvation Army for processing and distribution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Daily pick up and delivery of donations using Salvation Army vehicles.
  2. Generate donation receipts and maintain proper record keeping.
  3. Proper handling (loading/unloading), transportation and storage of perishable and non-perishable food.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and good operating condition of Salvation Army vehicles.
  5. Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of Salvation Army facilities as assigned.
  6. Report all accidents, problems and incidents to Social Services Case Manager.
  7. Adherence to employee dress code while working.
  8. Other duties as assigned by Corps Officers.

  9. Must complete Protecting the Mission - child safety training.
  10. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License and be a minimum of 21 years old.
  11. Must complete and pass Salvation Army Driver's Safety Course and Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) Check.
  12. Six months of successful work experience in retail, resale, warehousing, or a production environment preferred.
  13. Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to maneuver, ability to remain in a stationary position, bend, squat, climb, kneel, run, jump, and twist on an intermittent and sometimes continuous basis. Maintain the ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, reach overhead, and carry office supplies. Maintain the ability to operate a computer, telephone, and similar technologies. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:
  • Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)
  • Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)
  • Pension Plan (after one year of continuous service)

JOB SUMMARY:

Driving to collect donations of food and other items from local businesses and individuals, safely and securely transporting those donations within The Salvation Army vehicles to our Admin building, Thrift Store, Social Services Building, adjacent cold storage units. Able to work safely and consistently in a fast-paced, challenging work environment. Handling all donated items with integrity, respect and care. Ensure a safe, clean and organized work area/ environment. Consistently represent The Salvation Army with a high standard of ethics, good conduct and friendliness to all in the general public whom the Truck Driver comes in contact with, in person or otherwise, without discrimination. Must be minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid Utah Driver's License

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma/GED minimum. 6 months successful work experience in either retail, resale, warehousing, or a production environment, preferred. Spanish speaking is also preferred, not required.

DUTIES:
  • Drive a Salvation Army vehicle during work hours
  • Pick up/drop off and load/unload donations from sites, and vendors
  • Write up paperwork for each donation accurately and efficiently.
  • Clean and gas up vehicle regularly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
