Job Description
Position Title: Security Officer
Reports To: Security Manager, Supervisor
Supervises: N/A
Summary of Position
Responsible for ensuring security and safety with Resort and Casino guests and employees of IMGR&C against, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. The Security Officer maintains security over the facility during assigned shifts, and escorts internal money transfers throughout the IMGR&C or to external armored car facilities. Escorts customers and employees to ensure their safety.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and are subject to change at management’s discretion:
- Provides overall protection from, and elimination of, anything that may tend to jeopardize the welfare and security of the company assets, properties, guests/customers, and employees.
- Patrols the buildings and grounds.
- Safe guards the assets of the IMGR&C and CATC.
- Responds to radio and emergency calls as needed.
- Enforces gaming regulations included in the Internal Control Structure.
- Prepares accident and incident reports.
- Guards and transports chips, tokens, currency, and coins throughout the Resort facility.
- Collects and transports drop boxes to storage area.
- Maintain excellent customer relations at all times.
- Observes slot/gaming machine drop.
- Performs card game and table game drop.
- Periodically examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
- Bans violators of rule infraction and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Periodically inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Sounds alarm or calls police/fire department by telephone in case of emergency.
- Registers at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.
- Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
- Performs janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
- Responds to Medical Emergencies.
- Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at Resort entrance to maintain orderly flow.
- Adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and resort policies and procedures, and to the casino ICS.
- Works closely with other department and maintain open communication with all employees.
- Stands/walks for a longer period of time while at post or on patrol.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class III Gaming License.
- Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or six months to one year job-related experience may be substituted. Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred. Must hold a valid state driver’s license or be able to obtain one.

While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Must be able to use hand held communications devices. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The team member must be able to stand for several hours.
