Position Specific Description
The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for managing employees, providing oversight of monthly accounting processes, variance reports, and account reconciliations, and serving as an accounting lead in support of FPL Energy Services (FPLES) residential and commercial business lines and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, demonstrate the ability to manage projects independently with minimal direction, possess proficiency in accounting research and recommendations, be willing to delve into details when necessary, exhibit effective leadership skills, and have the ability to foster productive working relationships across the organization in a positive and collaborative manner
General Responsibilities:
•Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly and quarterly financial reports and analytics.
•Perform month-end close by preparing and reviewing/ posting journal entries.
•Work with the team and others to improve processes.
•Oversight of FPLES accounting processes and internal controls.
•Ensure the overall accounting accuracy of FPLES business lines and special projects across multiple reporting entities.
•Support commercial and residential business lines by providing accurate and timely accounting conclusions in support of current and new product initiatives.
•Follows through on resolving accounting matters as they arise, including researching, analyzing and reporting on issues that affect the company, making recommendations for solutions, and implementing determined courses of action.
•Mentors and coaches other team members in their development.
•Prepares ad hoc analyses and reports as needed.
•Project management skills inclusive of setting timelines/project plan, establishing assignments/priorities, and delivering according to project plan.
•Maintains good understanding of, and applies, GAAP, SEC Regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley, and related company policies, practices and procedures.
•Present accounting areas/issues concisely and clearly to senior management.
•Identifying and recommending changes to processes to enhance the accuracy of accounting data and/or efficiency of the department.

This job provides technical and administrative supervision to the accounting function within an assigned business unit. Employees in this job record financial transactions in general accounting records of the applicable business unit or entity.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
•Performs effective analytical review of records before financial information is released
•Supervises the accumulation, recording, and analysis of financial data in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and requirements of regulatory authorities
•Directs and controls maintenance of applicable general ledgers
•Supervises and coordinates accounting monthly closing process
•Ensures adequate internal controls exist, reflect appropriate consideration of cost-benefit issues and are effective
•Supervises activities necessary to ensure accurate and timely preparation of internal managerial and statistical reports and reports to external agencies
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
•High School Grad / GED
•Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
•Experience: 6+ years
