The Accounting Manager combines exceptional work ethic, high energy and an outstanding personality, with a strong dedication to financial outcomes. This individual is responsible for maintaining/managing and analyzing financial statements, payroll, budgets, and tax compliance issues.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to present complex materials in a manner that is easily understood.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted principals, specifically in the healthcare industry setting.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and managing budgets.
  • Computer literacy and fluency in accounting software: Quickbooks. Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with fully integrated EMR- practice management software package. Modernizing Medicine is a plus.
  • Familiarity with professional corporations, productivity reporting, CPT coding, accounts receivable management, provider contracting issues, doctor compensation methodology, etc.
  • Experience in negotiating general business contracts including insurance, vendor supply contracts, and loan/lease terms.
  • Proven ability to implement safeguards to minimize threats of theft and embezzlement.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly understands, reviews, controls, and audits the accounting and computer systems as they relate to financial and revenue cycle management/reporting.
  • Ensures that are proper accounting controls are in place.
  • Prepares/oversees all bookkeeping and financial reporting functions, including internal bookkeeping and external accounting.
  • Monitors billing and collection process to facilitate a healthy turnover and maximum collections of account receivables.
  • Oversees cash flow planing and ensures availability of funds as needed.
  • Develops and utilizes predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
  • Prepares financial reports and summary analyses for each entity: Profit and Loss Statement , KPI Dashboard & Metrics, Balance Sheet, Budget-to-Actual, Operating Efficiency, Accounts Receivable, Provider Productivity, Patient Visit Summary and Coding Analysis by Provider, and Physician Compensation.
  • Coordinates with outside resources as necessary to manage tax liabilities and impacts.
  • Responsible for managing, developing, and implementing, all supply chain policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains inventory control.
  • Provides validation of accurate reporting, reconciliation of all accounts, and compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Works with management to prepare an annual budget, to be initiated at the outset of the fourth fiscal quarter, with completion one month prior to the start of the following fiscal year.
  • Analyzes the cost/benefit and feasibility of opportunities for the entity.
  • With direction of management, negotiates and maintains all insurance coverage for the entities and organization.
  • Communicates with management on a transparent and consistent basis concerning all financial matters.
  • Coordinates all activities with the management team to maximize efficiencies of resources in the entity.
  • Human Resources:
    • Ensures taxes are paid without penalty.
    • Works with support team to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to financial departments(including annual cybersecurity, FWA, etc.)
    • Performs or causes to be performed- tracking and auditing for compliance of all benefits programs, including appropriate deposits, accruals, and IRS reporting.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degree required; CPA and/or MBA highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial and accounting experience within the healthcare industry, preferably in the ophthalmology specialty.
  • Experience with multisite accounting/reporting and consolidation of financial statements.

Language Ability:

Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.

Math Ability:

Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas for related measurements and calculations. Ability to calculate percentages. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data. Strong mathematical ability and date computation is required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Ability to use logic. Ability to identify information by categorizing and recognizing differences or similarities.

Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will supervise other individuals that will directly report to this position.
