Summary:

Develop, document and analyze product costs, variances, Bills of Materials and other Cost Accounting functions. Identify and coordinate correction of bill of material errors.Prepares analyses and reconciliations of warehouse inventory, production reporting, inventory reserves, and processes workflows to update costs for new/existing materials in SAP.Month-end closing responsibilities. Assist in the preparation of annual budget. Develop raw material, direct labor and overhead costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and perform periodic costs rolls in SAP system. Explain impact of cost changes to Plant Controller and Director of Operations Finance.
  • Communicate with other departments (Sourcing) to explain and budget expected changes in Commodities and other component and raw material costs.
  • Accumulate and analyze monthly production labor variances; issue report and explanations to Senior Management.
  • Provide input in formulation of direct labor rates (costs) and manufacturing overhead.
  • Prepare analysis of cycle count adjustments monthly; work with departments to ensure that proper cycle count procedures are being practiced; assist with maintaining cycle count policies
  • Monitor and drive reduction in Cycle Count variances at distribution centers through process improvements
  • Identify errors in the Bill of Materials. Work with other departments to ensure they are corrected.
  • Monthly Closing responsibilities which may involve analyzing POV (Process Order Variances), analyzing PPV, performing month end journal entries, analyzing trends in inventory and related general ledger accounts, creating the bank borrowing base report, and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze process order variances to understand and explain the manufacturing variances at month end.
  • Prepare various reports for Senior Management on routine and ad-hoc basis.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, effects on costs.
  • Prepare annual inventory reserve rate analysis
  • Prepare inventory reports and analyses (including reserves) for year-end use by external auditors; assist Manager Finance in preparation for audit test counts
  • Prepare enterprise aged inventory summary quarterly and other times as requested
  • Prepare inventory summaries; create/collect all related files used in LIFO inventory calculations at year-end; prepare and post journal entry for LIFO adjustments as needed
  • Assist Cost Analyst in daily manufacturing accounting processes
  • Provide training, coaching and leadership to Cost Analyst
  • Interact with Company's external auditors.
  • Provide information needed for Company's tax return.

    • Education Requirements:
    • Requires a minimum of Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
    • Experience Requirements:
    • 5+ years progressive experience in manufacturing accounting environment with 3+ years' experience in product costing, labor variances, recosting, Bills of Materials and inventory valuations.
    • Competencies:
  • Demonstrated strong computer-data base query and analysis ability
  • Excel: Superior excel skills required including working knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas to create useful financial analyses. Previous experience with creating and manipulating large amounts of data
  • Must have thorough understanding of the cost accounting function, and excellent oral / written communication and organizational skills.
