Summary of Responsibilities:

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Tax and Accounting Service Partner supervise and monitor the monthly accounting process while providing outstanding personal service to a section of our small business clientele with tax and accounting services. 


Essential Duties:

  1. Review monthly financial statements of accounting service clients prepared by associate and paraprofessionals
  2. Assist the Tax and Accounting Service Partner monitor the day to day operations of the accounting service department to ensure monthly client work is being done effectively and efficiently
  3. Assist paraprofessional and associate staff with the development of their monthly accounting service procedures for assigned clients and properly document processes within the firm’s workflow process
  4. Provide support and assistance to tax and accounting service employees to answer client inquiries and requests
  5. Responsible for the preparation of business and individual tax returns for small business clients
  6. Manage the accounting service departments workflow process, onboarding process, and training for associates and paraprofessional with the guidance of the Tax and Accounting Service Partner
  7. Perform weekly check-ins with accounting service associates and paraprofessionals

 

Other Duties:

  1. Provide coverage of monthly accounting service client work when associates or paraprofessionals are on vacation or out sick
  2. Assist the Tax and Accounting Service Partner with the monitoring of the time and billing activities of the accounting service department
  3. Coordinates and controls the retention of the firm’s accounting and legal records, ensuring that all information is safely stored and available on short notice.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

  

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  1. Must be computer savvy; embrace and learn new technology with ease!
  2. Four-year college degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, or business.
  3. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  4. Passion for small businesses and their success!
  5. Upbeat, confident, and friendly personality.
  6. Excellent problem solver; offer ideas and recommendations to clients.
  7. Passion for small businesses and their success is a must!
  8. Be able to work with any type of small business owner.
  9. Upbeat, confident, and friendly personality.
  10. 2+ years of accounting supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
  11. Tax return preparation (1040, 1065, 1120) experience preferred. 
  12. 2+ years' experience at a CPA firm preferred.
  13. CPA or EA license preferred
  14. QuickBooks ProAdvisor preferred
  15. An individual in this position will need to be familiar with the following software, accounting concepts, and business concepts listed below.
    1. QuickBooks and Xero
    2. CCH Axcess tax software
    3. Microsoft Office
    4. Reconciliations
    5. Journal entries
    6. Debits and credits
    7. Types of business entities
    8. Individual income, small business, and payroll tax laws
    9. Assisting with third party payroll processing via Gusto or ADP
