The Opportunity
Description
We're looking for a Manager of REIT Accounting, working in Real Estate industry in Newton, Massachusetts, United States.
- Manages month-end close process, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and analysis of financial results.
- Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Leads a team of accountants responsible for the corporate close and third party data review.
- Performs timely detail review of workpapers prepared by the portfolio accountants.
- Prepares workpapers and post journal entries for certain higher risk and technical areas.
- Assists in the review of financial data coming from third party operators.
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements and required disclosures for SEC filings.
- Assists in the preparation of variance analysis and quarterly management reporting packages.
- Reviews debt compliance reporting on a quarterly basis.
- Manages internal and external audit requests on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Assists in the preparation of board and committee materials.

Experience Required for Your Success
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and a strong record of success in academic and work environments (Minimum GPA 3.0)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience; REIT or specialty finance industry experience preferred
- Public accounting experience and CPA (preferred)
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Yardi (preferred)
- Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures with ability to research and recommend appropriate treatments
- Ability to propose and lead the application of new methodologies that satisfy systematic and scalable processes
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple deliverables at one time
- Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively communicate with business partners and management regarding accounting related matters
