Job Description

JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR POSITION CODE:

DEPARTMENT: ACCOUNTING REPORTS TO: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

SUPERVISES: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK / REVENUE AUDIT FLSA: EXEMPT

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises, administers, and performs operations of the Accounts Payable, Finance and Revenue Audit Department. Oversees daily gaming audits, journal entries, and processing of invoices and record keeping. Prepares various reports for various departments and special reports as requested.

MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENTS: 21 years of age

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversees input data, verifies authenticity of output in daily payables and file maintenance.
  2. Problem resolution and error correction.
  3. Ensure accurate preparation of payable checks.
  4. Reviews various invoice adjustments, e.g., shortages, overcharges, and manual computation of receipts.
  5. Responsible for timely and accurate distribution of all checks and accountable for unclaimed checks.
  6. Supervise activities of Accounts Payable Clerks, Revenue Audit and General Ledger with responsibility of assigning, reviewing and scheduling work and completing performance evaluations.
  7. Maintain Accounts Payable trail balance. Responsible for the confirmation of any unusual amount or balance.
  1. Routinely exercise authorities to suggest or make recommendations for advancements, promotions, hiring and/or firing.
  1. Handle employee grievances and/ or discipline.
  1. Planning, supervising and monitoring work.
  1. Responsible for all non-routine transactions involving vendors.
  1. Perform other miscellaneous work as assigned by the Financial Controller or Director of Finance.
  1. Must assure exceptional customer service to all patrons by communicating in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times.
  1. Responsible for providing General Ledger an accurate account of items to be accrued at the end of each month.
  1. Responsible for timely and accurate filing of department and vendor documents for retention purposes.
  1. Prepares recaps and summaries of required data.
  2. Ensure all income audits are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
  3. Oversees income audits.
  1. Maintains source documents.
  1. Safeguard all corporate records
  1. Preparation of Illinois Gaming Tax Reports.
  1. Assist independent auditors as required.
  1. Supervise the end of month tasks of Revenue Audit & AP and ensure all items are balanced for the month.
  1. Prepare month end journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  1. Administrator of property P-Card program
  1. Prepare and complete monthly reports required by Illinois Gaming Board.
  1. Assist in inventory control functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL - Must be able to:

1. Communicate on a constant basis with the general public and staff.

2. Have manual dexterity to operate computer, and calculator, fax machine and copy machine.

3. Push and/or pull file cabinet drawers weighing five pounds (5 lbs.) to fifteen pounds (15 lbs.).

4. Sit for long periods of time.

5. Hear. Can be augmented with a hearing aid.

6. See to operate computer and read reports and correspondence.

7. Climb stairs repeatedly.

8. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.

MENTAL - Must be able to:
  1. Communicate verbally, clearly, and articulately.
  1. Work accurately with basic math.
  1. Understand and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.
  1. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.


PREREQUISITES/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Assoc. Degree required. Prefer Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Further education a plus. Two years accounting work experience, including GAAP, general ledger and financial statement experience. Supervisory experience preferred. Word processing using company select software. Advanced knowledge of Excel and 10-key calculator. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Prompt, flexible working hours. May require some travel for various company training.
