The Janitor Floor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishments. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping and mopping or scrubbing and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
- Cleans hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevator banks, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Cleans floors using brooms, mops and powered scrubbing, floor finish applicator, and floor polishing (burnishing) machines.
- Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
- Washes windows, door panels, and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets and cleaning ashtrays.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Responsible for working with a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake Policy.
- Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
- Sets an example through dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and personal appearance.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment from Supervisor.
- May be required to train other employees on how to properly use, troubleshoot, and perform essential preventive maintenance on equipment.
- May fill in for general cleaning staff as needed.
- Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.
Education:
- High School diploma/GED or 6 months previous custodial work experience.
- Ability to carry out simple but detailed instructions.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers.
- Must possess a positive team member attitude.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees with disabilities.
- Ability to work in environments with narrow, moving, and/or slippery surfaces.
