The 150 Civil Engineering Flight (150 CEF) provides maintenance and construction support for the NM Air National Guard. The 150 CEF is customer-based organization supporting all units with small to large scale requirements related to federal real property. The 150 CEF provides all HVAC, electrical, structural, janitorial, grounds, environmental and construction to support the ongoing Intel Squadron, RED HORSE squadron, 150 Mission Support Group, 150 Medical Training Group and HC-130J flying missions.
Why does the job exist?
The purpose of this job is to maintain the cleanliness and create a safe environment for personnel who work in the facilities on Kirtland AFB. The Janitor/Cleaner is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance & Repair Worker ¿ General Supervisor and/or the State Manager. This position is responsible for tools and equipment issued to them as well as reporting any damaged or lost tools to their supervisor. Position requires individual to use their time efficiently by gathering all tools and materials needed to complete cleaning duties prior to leaving shop in the morning. Job also requires individual to communicate with team and management in person and using two-way radios.
How does it get done?
Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition per schedule and Janitorial Duty List from Facilities Manager. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing/steaming carpet, washing walls, doors, ceiling fixtures and glass, removing trash or other specialized janitorial services. Sweep, wet or dry mop, scrub wax and polish floors using brooms, mops and light and heavy powered scrubbers and buffers. Clean bathrooms, vacuum carpets, dust/wax/polish furniture and fixtures, make minor repairs and exterminate insects and rodents. Keep inventory and request to order supplies and equipment, operate and perform routine repairs on equipment; check locks on buildings and windows to maintain security. Provide training and assistance to less experienced workers. Ability to lift light to medium weight objects and safely use industrial cleaners and basic hand and yard tools and equipment. New Mexico Air National Guard management and staff, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) personnel, and the Citizens of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and vacuums.
Able to follow cleaning schedule for assigned buildings.
Able to handle and mix different cleaning agents.
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License with no limitations or restrictions. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed mostly indoors as outdoors with a prolonged periods or standing, bending, twisting, walking and climbing up and down ladders. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs in performance duties.
