Position Summary:
The UG Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient and cost- effective operation of all UG Power Equipment including but not limited to Line Truck, Squirt Boom, Bucket Truck, Excavator and or backhoe experience preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must be proficient in operating excavator and or backhoe.
- Must be proficient in setting up and operating line truck, bucket truck, or back yard machines.
- Working knowledge of line work preferred.
- Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties.
- Develop proficiency in safe operation of all equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment.
- Run power tools.
- Perform hand digging.
- Transport equipment to and from job sites.
- Load and unload equipment.
- Maintain material inventory on truck.
- Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite.
- Working knowledge of underground utilities.
- Working knowledge of 811 Requirements and Procedures.
- High school diploma (preferred).
- Knowledge of Utilities installation techniques and standards, has limited experience (preferred).
- Must have valid Class A CDL License (required).
- Able to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
- Able to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Able to lift, push, pull, carry objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Able to quickly move arms and legs and have excellent stamina.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
- Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
- Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
