Position Title: Master Planner (Military Activities)

U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) located at McDill AFB, Tampa, Florida has a unique joint staff planning need focused on integrating and synchronizing DoD military activities with United States Government (USG) strategy. These services include developing inputs to strategies, campaign plans, and concepts of operation that ultimately translate strategic and operational objectives into a series of related activities and operations to achieve desired end states in coordination with other DoD components, USG agencies, allies, coalition members and regional partners.

The Master Planner provides master strategy, plans, exercises, and policy services in support of unique Joint Planning Team (JPT)/Operational Planning Team (OPT).

Location: U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Headquarters, MacDill AFB, Tampa Florida

Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI eligible

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizes, directs, and coordinates planning and production of all task order
  • Provides analyses, recommendations, and drafts products for JPT and working group review and approval.
  • Supports developing orders, analysis, estimates, and briefings for USCENTCOM leadership and primary staff and DoD, Interagency (IA), Allies, Coalition members, and partner nation leaders.
  • Assists with evaluations and recommendations to the respective Divisions and Branches as they direct, coordinate, and conduct a joint combatant command level planning
  • Provides Joint Operational Planning Process subject matter expertise including: Mission Analysis, Course of Action (COA) Development, COA Analysis (Wargaming), COA Comparison and Decision.
  • Provides Plans and Order Development subject matter expertise including: Analysis of COA decisions, mission statement, commander's intent, and guidance to develop plans and/or orders that direct subordinate actions.
  • Conducts orderly handover of plans for order development to those tasked with execution of the operation or campaign. Provides situational awareness and rationale to USCENTCOM leadership and staff regarding key decisions for a coherent transition from planning to execution.
  • Facilitates coordination across working groups, JPT/OPT, administrative support staff, Components, IA and Allies, Coalition members and partners in support of plans, meetings, conferences, and activities in support of plan development.
  • Assists with the management of working groups with a comprehensive view of operations by contributing to the preparation of reports, conducting analytical and statistical research and by providing alternative solutions and assessments of the long-range impact of work processes and other implications of studies and projects.

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Comprehensive experience in joint strategic planning.
  • Graduate of Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS), School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS), School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW), Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS), or Senior Service College equivalent program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of planning experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years planning experience at a Geographic or Functional Combatant Command Headquarters.
  • Master's Degree.
  • Prior USCENTCOM experience is preferred but not required.
  • TS/SCI eligible clearance.
