Job Description
Whole Foods Market is hiring a Senior Business Analyst to work within our operations analytics team. In this role, you'll be harnessing the power of diverse data platforms and analytical tools to evaluate and transform data into meaningful business insights. Your focus will involve crafting tools that automate reporting, offering partners a swift and precise view of WFM stores, regions, products, and processes performance. You'll be the force behind using data to shape business and retail decisions throughout the company. Your knack for identifying, developing, and executing data analyses will play a key role in uncovering untapped areas of business opportunity. You'll demonstrate strategic understanding of business objectives, competitive strengths, and opportunities of WFM and supported stores by leveraging knowledge of trends across customers, markets, and competitors to make pivotal business improvement recommendations.
This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week.

BA/BS degree with a focus in business and 3-5 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Some primary responsibilities will be:
- Serve as an analytical partner, performance steward, and advocate to operations leadership teams and other Store Support business partners:
- You'll be responsible for upholding program goals and the mission of the operations team when interacting with various business partners. May act as the lead of working groups, providing guidance, coordination, review, and insight, while acting independently to leverage cross-functional partnerships in support of business initiatives and driving sustainable improvement within results.
- Provide insights, highlight opportunities, and drive action with Store Support and Operational Area leadership:
- You'll coordinate follow-ups, including monitoring high-level KPI metrics on stores, metros, regions, and programs demonstrating an understanding of the primary business drivers; and focuses on store-level opportunities such as new store support, pilots, and/or underperforming stores/CBSAs, as well as regional opportunities such as in-depth category analysis, controllable expense challenges, and/or benchmarking performance.
- Seeks to better understand business drivers, identify notable trends and recommend operational process improvements.
- Creates executive recaps for business reviews discussing performance, challenges, and opportunities with Operations leadership or with Store Support business partners and leaders. Translates business problem statements into analysis/toolset requirements, dissecting new product/process launches, and correlating business processes to financial results while anticipating constraints and incorporating them into program considerations.
Professional Knowledge
- Demonstrates mastery of industry-standard business drivers (Sales, Gross Margin, Labor, and Operational Expenses), excelling in monitoring financial statements and possessing an in-depth understanding of company, departmental, and Retail Operations SOPs. Confidently navigates, manipulates, and analyzes large data sets, identifying new and improved methods for data manipulation and analysis.
- Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality, producing concise presentations for senior leadership while tailoring communication to varying skillsets and levels.
