The Business Intelligence Analyst Sr. will provide analytics and reporting support primarily to the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Surgical Services. The analyst be a key member of the Medical College Physicians Practice Analytics team while working independently with Surgical Services leadership to meet reporting needs, synthesize and ensure consistency in reporting, and to translate data for leaders for the purposes of effective decision making and improvement activities.

This position will assist in the design and implementation of data analyses, reporting and visualizations, dashboards, and ad-hoc and standard reports. The role requires a unique combination of knowledge of clinical and hospital operations, Epic, requirement analysis, project management and data analysis to develop analytics products and improve the analytics footprint.

Hybrid Position: 80% Remote & 20% Onsite, flexibility required to accommodate business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate clinical requirements to data querying logic and write code (i.e. SQL scripts) for data acquisition and manipulations in SQL-compliant or other data sources.
  • Develop requirements analysis, logic, formulate calculations, and analyze data for analytical insights, analytics applications, dashboards, reports, and other analytics products.
  • Leverage various techniques, tools, and visualizations to display data in an effective manner and monitor and measure operational and clinical processes and outcomes.
  • Provide technical and functional documentation on project requirements and deliverables.
  • Develop analytics products to support leadership in strategic decision making and ongoing optimization of organizational performance.
  • Ensure alignment of definitions and methodology to ensure consistency, reliability, and integrity of reporting.
  • Work closely with Surgical Services leadership, Practice Analytics team, Enterprise Analytics and project teams, clinical and operational leaders, Clinical Informatics, IT, and/or BI developers as needed to analyze data requirements, provide data mapping, and assist with timely deliverables.
  • Coordinate quality control and accuracy of information by creating recommendations for data quality.
  • Support and service ad-hoc data requests, strategic initiatives, and clinical programs as identified.
  • Apply knowledge of agile project management methodology for developing requirement analysis and functional specifications.
  • Follow implementation standards and deployment process within Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Assist and support adoption of Enterprise Analytics Intake and Triage process.
  • Formulate calculations, transformation logic, data analysis and rapid prototyping to aid BI and Analytics Applications/Dashboards/Reports.
  • Participate in project teams as necessary and assist with timely delivery and project timelines.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Knowledge of Epic Clarity and proficiency in SQL coding strongly preferred.
  • Advanced communication skills and ability to effectively work with physicians, administrators, various teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively work with physicians, administrators, and various teams across the enterprise.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving and attention to detail required.
  • Strong analytical abilities and software knowledge in the areas of spreadsheets, power point presentation, word documentation, databases, electronic records and graphics.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Preferred Schedule:
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Required Experience: 6 years, with a minimum of 1 year of directly related experience with projects that include analysis, data modeling principles, basic to intermediate SQL programming, dashboard/report design with visualizations, and development of business/customer and technical specifications. Basic to Intermediate experience with Business Intelligence tool(s).


Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Education: Master's Degree

Field: Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Health Care Administration, Mathematics, Engineering or related field is required in order to understand computer systems principles in relevant technology acquired through a combination of education and experience is required.
