Program Overview
Lincoln Hall’s Family Reunification Program (FRP) is on a 450-acre campus in Westchester County, NY, about 45 minutes north of New York City. The FRP provides temporary shelter services to unaccompanied children until they can be safely reunified with sponsors in the United States. While in our care, the children receive a host of services, including clinical, case management, medical, nutritional, recreational, religious, and educational services, all aimed at supporting the child’s physical, mental, behavioral, and emotional well-being.
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Cottage Supervisor, the Youth Care Worker is responsible for all aspects of the 24-hour out-of-home treatment program, including the provision of a safe, therapeutic environment for youth, employees, and visitors to campus. The Youth Care Worker will function as part of a team to ensure the safety and therapeutic milieu of the Treatment Environment and in cooperation with leadership from other areas of the Agency. Areas of treatment include recreation, independent living, a therapeutic milieu, and regular attendance at work.
Essential Functions
The Youth Care Worker will provide direct supervision for minors and assistance to other Youth Care Worker to ensure the implementation of all program expectations, including the establishment of a safe, therapeutic environment, the complete use of TCI, including Post-Crisis Response techniques, and verification of data collected for reporting practices to Family Services (OCFS) and Office of Refugee Resettlement, program handbook, and other areas of oversight as required by agency contract or regulatory authority.
- Responsible for providing supervision overnight, including physical headcount checks, maintaining a safe and clean therapeutic environment, completing daily inspections of all cottage areas, and preparing maintenance requests accordingly.
- Responsible for ensuring that all minors in the cottage have a clean set of clothes appropriate for the Dress Code of the Ives School daily. This includes doing laundry in the cottage, as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring that all minors transition from the cottage to the school in full compliance with the Ives School Dress Code.
- Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the cottage. This includes kitchen, bathroom, parlor, and cottage gym areas during the overnight shift. Removing graffiti is considered part of the job responsibilities. It also includes monitoring residents completing chores during morning routines. It also includes documenting the condition of the cottage daily in the cottage log and submitting maintenance requests as needed.
- Supervise residents during morning routines. This includes all morning routines, including wake-ups, chores, and preparation for the school day and breakfast.
- Assisting other Overnight Youth Care Worker throughout the overnight shift. This includes providing coverage during breaks and assistance with behavioral issues, as needed.
Position Requirements
- Bilingual Preferred (Fluent English with a Secondary Language)
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have a Valid Drivers License
- Must have experience working with Youth.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Must have tact, discretion, and experience handling sensitive and confidential information, while maintaining a professional approach. Must be calm in emergencies.
Salary: $22.36 per hour
Job Type: Full-time /Non-Exempt
Shifts: Overnight Sunday - Wednesday 10pm - 8am
Physical Requirements
Ability to stay awake and alert during the overnight hours.
Ability to navigate stairs
Ability to perform Physical Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Techniques
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
