The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogenous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results.
The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, SpaceX, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.
As an R&D Composites Technician, you will work with the engineering team to develop and test new materials and processes for aircraft manufacturing. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining the R&D lab including equipment and tooling, fabricating and testing components, and documenting procedures and results.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and optimize composite manufacturing processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Operate and maintain composites manufacturing equipment, ensuring proper calibration, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Develop shop procedures and protocols to optimize safety, quality, and efficiency. Lay the groundwork for a positive manufacturing culture.
- Conduct testing and characterization activities for composite materials and structures, including mechanical testing and material property characterization.
- Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, observations, and results. Prepare technical reports to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks, share insights, and continually innovate. Actively contribute innovative ideas to solve engineering challenges.
- 5+ years composite materials and manufacturing process experience.
- Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills, organization, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated success as owner of a process or a loosely defined project and / or ability to thrive in an unstructured environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Your teammates consider you a manufacturing expert and come to you to learn how to do things the right way.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
