Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include the following: answer phones; greet clients; help clients sign in for their appointments; ask clients to fill out healthcare paperwork; confirm client appointments; and handle client correspondence. The Administrative Assistant also schedules client appointments, compiles and maintains client case files, maintains master client lists, assists with insurance billing and directs clients to the appropriate staff member, if client has specific questions about their care. The Administrative Assistant may also be required to take notes during staff meetings or participate in periodic staff training seminars.
SKILLS
The Administrative Assistant should have a professional demeanor, be friendly, courteous, and interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. The Administrative Assistant should have good computer, data entry, and organizational skills, be able to multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The minimum education required to be an Administrative Assistant is a high school diploma or a GED. Formal vocational training that includes basic office, computer and grammar skills is preferred. Previous experience in a mental health clinic or similar organization, and familiarity with mental health terminology and practices is preferred.
