Position Description

The Anoka County Park's mission is to positively impact the quality of life in Anoka County by providing parks, outdoor recreation, and leisure services for the public. Our mission encompasses the protection of the natural environment, improving the health of citizens, and supporting a strong local economy. The department has an immediate opening for Seasonal Administrative Assistants who will perform various duties. Some of the critical responsibilities of this position include providing excellent customer service to park visitors by ensuring communication is carried out in a polite, professional, and efficient manner.

This is a seasonal, non-exempt, on-site position. Anticipated employment duration is November to March. Interviews will take place as applications are received for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Work Location
  • This position will work at the Coon Rapids Dam Visitor Center and the Bunker Hills Activities Center, located at 9750 Egret Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 and 550 Bunker Lake Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304.
  • Expected work hours are Saturday and Sunday between 8:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Holidays may be required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to park visitors by ensuring communication is carried out in a polite, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Operate reservation system to schedule guest reservations at campground facilities.
  • Enforce policies and handle customer concerns in a respectful and consistent manner.
  • Balance monitoring, ordinance advisement, and answering park questions/requests or concerns.
  • Arm and disarm building security systems as needed.
  • Communicate via various technology (phone/computer/radio device).
Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • Requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
  • Successfully pass a criminal history background check.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • General understanding of general office procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, database, and PowerPoint experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruption.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Standard office environment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
