Job Description
We are in search of a Youth Sports Coordinator for our seasonal youth sports leagues, including baseball/softball, flag football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. The Youth Sports Coordinator will act as primary representative of the department on site during league games and events. They will have supervisory responsibility over the officiating staff, coaches, spectators, and participants. The qualified individual should have a strong working knowledge of youth sports and be passionate about creating a positive environment for learning and fair play.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
EDUCATION: High School Graduate/GED
EXPERIENCE: Experience working with both children and adults. Strong knowledge of the games of softball and baseball, ability to interpret the rules and make decisions that help promote and uphold the league vision.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Preseason: Assist with the development of team rosters and schedules, assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer coaches, and paid league staff.
- Coordinate team equipment handout and tracking (balls, bats, helmets, uniforms etc).
- Coordinate league staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Provide ongoing training and expertise to volunteer coaches as needed.
- Act as the primary APRD program representative / liaison during league play, providing a high level of personal visibility and customer service.
- Communicate professionally with coaches and program participants; respond to inquiries in a timely and helpful manner.
- Review and uphold the game rules and program philosophies with staff, coaches, and participants.
- Perform set-up and take-down of league related equipment.
- Check field / site conditions; coordinate with Recreation supervisor to make decisions about rain outs / cancelations.
- Assist with schedule revisions (i.e. rain outs).
- Coordinate the distribution of post season awards.
- Manage and track league supplies and equipment.
- Data entry of payroll and standings, complete all necessary paperwork.
- Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
- Communicate with Recreation Supervisor clearly, effectively, and regularly.
- Work closely with the Parks & Recreation Dept. staff and volunteers to ensure all department rules and policies are observed.

- Ability to work the duration of the program as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
- Ability to provide strong leadership and establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, participants and the public.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid (training provided if needed).
- Ability to effectively supervise and train staff.
- Ability to effectively carry out oral and written instructions, meet timelines.
- Ability to operate computer and software used by the Department.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code.
- Adhere to and implement the City of Appleton and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Hold valid driver's license and have a safe driving record.
