POSITION SUMMARY

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates speech therapy services provided to patients and their families. Has the training and ability to care for adult, geriatric, adolescents, children and on a limited basis, infants. Possesses the ability to remain flexible to provide coverage between outpatient, inpatient and aquatic care based on clinical need

Performs evaluations and develops effective patient treatment plans to restore, maintain or prevent decline of patient function, by planning and administering medical prescribed therapy treatment in accordance with federal, state and professional standards governing the treatment location.

Assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

o Baccalaureate degree from a credentialed school of speech-language pathology is required.

o Master's degree in speech-language is preferred.

o Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of West

Virginia is required.

o Knowledge of professional speech therapy theory and practice. Ability to manage multiple patient

care issues simultaneously.

o Ability to carry out prescribed orders from physicians

EXPERIENCE

o CPR certification is required or must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment

o Ability to utilize general computer programming such as Microsoft Word and flexibility to learn

hospital-based computer programming for patient documentation

o Will demonstrate a broad working knowledge of multiple patient types and treatment techniques
