We are looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant to work for one of our external clients, a community services non-profit organization serving people with developmental disabilities for their clinic, located in the Bronx. This is a permanent, full-time job. In this role you will be responsible for executing plans and implementing prescribed physical therapy treatment programs that have been selected and delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist. Requirements: Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant school; New York State license, limited permit, or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy. Knowledge in the use of ambulatory aides and therapeutic exercises. Must have good written-verbal communication skills and be computer literate. Responsibilities: Reviews persons receiving services' medical record; verify MD's order and physical therapy assessment prior to implementing PT treatment required. Maintains active/up to date MD prescriptions as outlined by NYS Department of Health (DOH) and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) depending upon work assignment. Communicates with supervisor regarding persons receiving services. This may include functioning in the areas of: sensorimotor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, ambulation and adaptive equipment needs (e.g. walker, canes, AFOs). Confers with physicians and other health care practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services. Integrate input from person receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatment. Writes specific, objective, and measurable documentation, which is outcome oriented and details the persons receiving services' needs, potential to benefit from treatment and progress achieved to date. All documentation must be completed through ECW within the time frame established by the Healthcare Center. ECW documentation must be cosigned by a licensed PT, if applicable. Consults with supervisor when appropriate to implement recommendations. Provides training to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specified follow through programs. Communicates effectively with discharge planning from rehabilitative programs. Participates and attends care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving PT services. Follows a documented treatment plan, generated by the PT, which may include ROM, therapeutic exercise, ADLs, wheelchair mobility, application of physical agent modalities. Reports status of persons receiving services to the supervising PT. Provide treatment to persons receiving services within facility-specified time frame. Only in consultation with a PT can treatment plans be modified/changed. When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g. location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity).
