Position description Junior or Assistant Specialist- Manglik Lab Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco The Manglik lab at UCSF studies how we sense and respond to the outside world. We use a range of tools in protein biochemistry, biophysics, and engineering to probe and manipulate biology, with a goal to bring forward new approaches to treat disease. We are seeking a Junior or Associate Specialist to work as part of our dynamic team focused on the discovery of novel anesthetics. Specialists will have the opportunity to learn a range of techniques including biochemistry, cloning and molecular biology, cellular and molecular assays, and how these tools can be used to discover new therapeutics. Exceptional candidates will have the opportunity to lead their own independent project, develop new ideas and be familiar with the literature. The specialist will be expected to help with managing day-to-day lab operations, and perform general lab duties and be a positive lab citizen. 2 year commitment expected. Required Qualifications: Junior Specialist - Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience. Assistant Specialist - Master's degree or a bachelor's degree with three or more years of research experience. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities. Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team. Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
