Day Shift RN
Night Shift RN
Responsible for the provision of care to promote behavioral health and wellness by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing biopsychosocial interventions to patients and families. Ensures that each patient is included in healthcare decision-making, as well as works toward creating and sustaining an environment that humanizes and individualizes the care for each patient. Provides a range of clinical services to include, but not limited to, assessments of individual biopsychosocial needs, acute stabilization, treatment, and crisis prevention. Clinical supervision of unlicensed team members on assigned shifts.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Provide, delegate, coordinate and evaluate care of patient through the collaborative efforts of team members and in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care and practice. Provide general nursing care in a facility.
- Function as the lead nurse on assigned shift.
- Responsible for staff assignments and/or direction of duties, tasks or projects.
- Provide professional and administrative leadership to staff.
- Accountable for the oversight of staffing performance.
- Coordinate nursing, medical and/or behavioral health care activities with all staff to ensure smooth and complete coordination of efforts during shared shift.
- Supervisory responsibility for assigning staff according to education and ability.
- Provide mentoring and training as needed.
- Coordinate all care rendered to patients, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensure consultations are ordered.
- Document medical, behavioral health information and nursing care.
- Administer medications and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing a plan of care with specific and measurable goals, objectives and interventions defining actions unique to each patient's needs. Assist in updating and revising the plan of care as goals/objectives are met or when the patient's condition changes.
- Provide structure and maintain a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patients and other care providers.
- Consistently utilize universal precautions, environmental safety guidelines and applicable level system as applicable.
Position Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Current Ohio Registered Nurse license
Current BLS
One year of nursing experience, minimal
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred
Experience in psychiatric nursing, preferred
Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities:
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients and families.
- Assesses and identifies patient care requirements by utilizing evidence-based assessment and screening tools.
- Collaborates with other disciplines to develop a treatment plan that reflects patient assessments, goals of patient and family, and functionality.
- Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, as appropriate.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing department philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, The Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and other governing agency regulations.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, with assistance from unlicensed support personnel.
- Provides effective crisis intervention through clinical leadership, teamwork, and respect for patient to ensure that best outcome.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Additional Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of psychopathology and general knowledge of medical care of patients
Understanding of resiliency and recovery in mental illness and substance abuse, and treatment approaches and techniques.
Interest in working with patients with psychiatric diagnoses.
Ability to work under stress with patients who may require constant observation.
Flexibility in work schedule.
