Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vascular Access Nurse (PICC RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in the Boise, Idaho area. This position is a flexible PRN position to accommodate your already busy schedule. As a Vascular Access Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized vascular access care, with a focus on Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines). The ideal candidate will possess expertise in vascular access procedures, infusion therapy, and patient education.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Vascular Access Procedures:
    • Perform the insertion, maintenance, and removal of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines) with precision and adherence to best practices.
    • Utilize ultrasound guidance for optimal catheter placement.
    • Monitor and assess the condition of vascular access sites, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  2. Infusion Therapy:
    • Administer and manage intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and fluids as prescribed by healthcare providers.
    • Monitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing for any adverse reactions and taking appropriate actions.
  3. Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and their families about the purpose, care, and maintenance of PICC lines and other vascular access devices.
    • Provide comprehensive instructions on infection prevention and self-care to ensure patient safety.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
  5. Documentation:
    • Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  6. Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize vascular access procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Education and Licensure:
    • Current RN licensure in ID.
    • Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC or similar) is highly desirable.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a focus on vascular access and infusion therapy.
    • Proficient in ultrasound-guided PICC line insertion.
  3. Skills:
    • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  4. Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
