JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Enterprise Communications team at Greystar is a fast-paced, energetic group that serves as the voice of Greystar and drives strategic communications on behalf of the business across internal and external platforms. The Communication Associate plays a crucial role in managing external communication strategies and initiatives to protect and enhance Greystar's brand reputation. Reporting to the Senior Director of External Communications, this position serves as a spokesperson, responsible for engaging with reporters, handling both proactive and reactive communications, and ensuring consistent, strategic messaging in the US market. The role also involves managing agency partners, executing campaigns, and contributing to thought leadership efforts. This is a hybrid role with the expectation that the Communications Associate will work in office a minimum of 3 days per week from either our corporate headquarters in Charleston, SC or our corporate office in New York, NY. JOB DESCRIPTION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Strategy Development: Support all US external communications-both reactive and proactive-and contributes to global announcements in other markets, as required, to showcase Greystar's global capabilities. 2. Content Leadership: Draft and edit communications materials and content related to the firm and its investment strategies, including but not limited to press releases, social media posts, talking points and Q&As, thought leadership articles, and award submissions. 3. Campaign Management: Oversee the execution of campaigns and announcements across multiple channels, coordinating with digital and internal communications experts. 4. Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively manage internal stakeholder priorities to ensure efficient execution and alignment with communication goals, maximizing the return on investment. 5. Project Management: Contribute to global speaker and awards calendars, taking the lead for the US. 6. Sponsorship Management: Act as the point of contact for corporate memberships and sponsorship activities in the US. 7. Internal Collaboration: Work as part of the global team to deliver and promote Greystar's attendance at key industry events. 8. Team Mentorship: Responsible for training and mentoring the External Communications Analyst, providing guidance, feedback, and support to facilitate their professional development and enhance team capabilities. 9. Social Media Management & Growth: Drive the growth and engagement of Greystar's social media presence by developing and implementing social media strategies that align with external communications goals, collaborating with the social media stakeholders, and monitoring metrics to optimize reach and brand visibility across platforms. BASIC KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field. Experience at a global real estate firm is preferred, but not required. Strong understanding of external communication strategies, media relations, and brand management. Track record of developing and maintaining key contacts in media industry. Ability to define, track, and optimize KPI metrics to evaluate the success of communication strategies and media outreach efforts. Capable of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience supporting capital markets transactions and working with confidential information. Creative thinker with a proven ability to generate proactive media coverage in key publications. Ability to work under pressure and deliver excellent work within tight timescales. Excellent written and verbal skills with strong attention to detail to create persuasive arguments that engage key audiences. Understanding of the modern media environment, including traditional, digital/social media, and stakeholder engagement. Skilled in using communication technologies, including Microsoft Office 365, media monitoring services, newswires, and databases. 2-4 years of experience working at an agency or in-house communications/PR role. SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Ability to adapt communication strategies and define objectives to protect and enhance Greystar's brand reputation in the US market. Skill in providing media intelligence, defining thought leadership topics, and crafting messaging to position Greystar as an innovative market leader. Experience in navigating potential issues, identifying risk areas, and protecting brand reputation. TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a hybrid role expected to be in the office a minimum of 3x/week. No special physical demands are required. Rare or occasional travel may be required to attend business meetings, training programs, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position. LI-RF1 The salary range for this position is $75,000-85,000. Additional Compensation : Corporate Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus program based on individual and company performance. Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
