Job Description Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Job Specialty: Sterile Processing

Shift: 8-hour day shift, 11 AM - 7 PM, 5x8 Hour
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Certifications: CRCST / CSPDT Required

Job Description:
- Promote improved quality and patient safety in the Operating Room by ensuring efficient flow in the Sterile Processing department. - Perform routine tasks related to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. - Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission or relevant regulatory standards, and OSHA standards. - Maintain records according to regulatory standards and guidelines. - Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization methods and ensure proper packaging and storage of items to maintain sterility. - Validate proper functioning of equipment using established mechanical and biological monitors. - Uphold all quality, infection prevention, regulatory, and Joint Commission Standards at all times. - Demonstrate technical skills to establish and maintain High-Level Disinfection (HLD) processes. - Utilize computerized tray/instrument tracking systems, if applicable. - Apply Standard Precautions and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). - Report life safety issues, environmental concerns, or process deviations to the immediate supervisor. - Maintain a customer-friendly rapport with peers and internal/external customers. - Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy. - Assist in the transportation of sterilized instrumentation to the operating rooms as needed. - Verify required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call, or weekend cases. - Assist in removing soiled case carts or unsterile instrumentation from the operating room department. - Respond to problem calls from Surgery during regular business hours. - Float assignments may be required up to sixty miles from the original assignment location, including duties outside the original assignment job requirements, in accordance with policy.
