Job Summary:
The Department of School Quality Measurement and Research (SQMR) is responsible for building a foundation of high-quality, research-based evidence to inform district practice, policy, and vision. Through the timely and accurate reporting of school and district performance metrics, SQMR supports stakeholder involvement in district decision making and school efforts to improve instructional effectiveness. SQMR is also actively engaging stakeholders to co-design an improved system for driving these conversations.
Under the supervision of the Director of Performance Data & Policy, the Department Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day budget and procurement operations of (SQMR), which will include coordinating Oracle requests, management and oversight of current SQMR Budget, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring smooth operational efficiency within SQMR.This is a part-time/temporary position with an expected schedule of 16 hrs/week.
The Department Assistant will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Review, approve and coordinate all office purchases via Oracle system.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, contracts, etc to support SQMR purchasing needs.
- Liaise with the Procurement Office as needed to complete all required forms and paperwork for new and existing contracts.
- Ensure proper maintenance, operation and servicing of all office equipment.
- Support all aspects of compliance and regulations for district-wide expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Type of Education Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Experience working consultatively and collaboratively with a team of professionals.
- Experience managing multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience preferred.
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Ability to direct, problem solve, develop and delegate as situations dictate.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all stakeholders.
- Ability to use a range of technology and digital tools, including but not limited to Microsoft, Google, Oracle, and Kronos.
- Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively multi-task.
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
- Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions.
- Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing - Employees are required to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after your second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination course. Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing.
CPS Non-Union Job Grade: Part-time/Temporary Status
Estimated Annual Salary Range: Up to $23/hr
