Contract Duration: 12+ months, Onsite Position, Shift: 8 AM - 5:00 PM Shift
Pay Rate: $28.00/ Hr to $32.00/ Hr on W2
Description:
- Our team of dedicated scientists and research support staff operate a high throughput chemical research laboratory. As we continue to expand our research footprint and operational tempo, we are looking to bring on an Inventory Management Specialist.
- This individual will own chemical inventory management for the site and will establish new and better systems for tracking reagents and consumables as our volumes continue to increase.
- The Inventory Management Specialist will report to the Associate Director, Safety, Facilities, and Security, and execute the day-to-day logistical requirements of operating a research facility.
- As such, this position will be expected to work onsite each day, supporting research operations and ensuring a safe and effective working environment for lab personnel.
- Checking in packages from daily deliveries, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all goods delivered.
- Overseeing chemical delivery receipt and entrance into the chemical inventory system. Owning the inventory process and verifying data through inspections and reconciliations.
- Inventory management, including managing our storeroom and restocking common supplies stored and used by our lab teams, including both dry goods and chemicals.
- Supplier management, including following up with vendors regarding specific or defective orders and tracking and resolving any discrepancies.
- Establishing off-site stocking and inventory agreements with third parties.
- Maintaining a safe work environment, supporting Safety, Health, and Environmental programs as needed, including participating as a member of the Spill Response Team.
- Working closely with a wide variety of teams, acting as a central point of contact for all employees and teams regarding shipping and receiving and inventory issues.
- Service orientation with scientists as customers. Desire to successfully own and manage inventory levels to prevent disruptions to work flow and ensure goods received are of expected quality.
- Establishing a new inventory management system for accurate and actively managed inventory levels, with a desire to optimize efficiency and chemical compliance.
- Comfortable working in a chemistry-heavy research laboratory that works with large volumes of hazardous materials and generates large quantities of hazardous waste. Must be comfortable handling and checking in hazardous materials.
- Extremely detail oriented and organized, and enjoys establishing systems and processes.
- Gets satisfaction from executing routine tasks to a high standard.
- 4 - 6 years of experience in inventory management, material handling, and/or operations, ideally in a biotech, medical, and/or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with chemicals and hazardous materials a plus.
- Experience with using and implementing inventory management systems and supplier agreements a major plus.
- Ability to work independently with solid communication skills.
- Ability to crouch, bend, climb ladders and step stools, and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
