The Plant Controller will be working closely with the Plant Manager and leadership team to oversee critical accounting and business activities. Responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, KPI development, variance analysis, and fixed asset management.
Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of accounting entries.
- Prepare and present monthly financial packages for leadership review.
- Maintain accurate financial reporting, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and ensure consistency between subledgers and the general ledger.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial goals.
- Analyze and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Notices, and their financial impacts.
- Provide consistent KPI data and analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Oversee inventory management, including reserves for obsolete inventory, physical and cycle counts, and strategies for optimal inventory levels.
- Develop and maintain standard material, labor, and overhead rates for ERP product costing.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and collaborate with operations to identify and resolve issues.
- Manage capital expenditures, tooling projects, and asset tracking processes.
- Support sales and operations with product costing, pricing strategies, and margin analysis.
- Act as an ERP systems expert, ensuring optimal use and maintenance of the system.
- Provide backup support to other controllers or financial leaders as needed.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of financial analysis or cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in new program launches, including cost and revenue forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of standard processes in growing manufacturing organizations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems and reporting tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self-starting approach to challenges.
